Ok, I think I need to take a minute to send out a blog update that promotes the heck out of twitter. Do you remember back a couple years ago when you first heard about Facebook. Everyone thought that it was just another Myspace. Today it is still free and yet the founder is a billionaire. “It’s all about advertising.” You may say, and that is partly true but there is more to it than just that. Facebook has become huge because everyone has bought into it. Twitter is on the same track...FAST.
Twitter is defined as a microblogging tool. While some people use it to share their thoughts at the moment, to explain what eggs they had for breakfast or what they are doing at any given second, there are a wide and very impressive range of usages. Some of these uses include the following:
News - If I am curious about a topic or issue, say swine flu, I search it and in a second I can actually find a situation in a place near me that may not have made it to the media yet.
Evernote - If you are not into evernote yet and you wish you had a place where you had every scrap note and phone number and anything else you can’t afford to forget, evernote is for you. You can even now twitter notes to your evernote (free) account and store them safe and sound there. http://www.evernote.com/
News updates for the “Interested” - I am a missionary in Spain. Life here is kind of interesting so I have a unique opportunity to inform anyone anywhere else what I do every day while on the mission field. It is kind of fun.
Anyway it is a good way to keep up to date, remind yourself of things, pass photos to others, and inform others about random things. If nothing else and you would like to interact with me through my days in Spain, check it out: http://twitter.com/mfernandez3
