Candy anyone?

Well it went fast but it was fun!

Last Saturday we stood on a street corner handing out 157 cellophane wrapped candy bags with a salvation bracelet and an explanation in the bag. The idea was to spread the word about what we are doing in Barajas and to get noticed. We learned a great deal but one thing was clear: if we want to get notice we need to give out a whole lot more over a longer period of time and to have many more such events. Frequency and volume seem to be the keys. Those bags went so fast that we were almost wondering if dumping them in the trash would have been slower. That said there were people looking at our website because of it though not many.
This Saturday coming up, we will be distributing more than 10,000 flyers throughout specifically mapped out parts of town in efforts to begin canvassing the entire district with the news that we are starting a church and we want to be a blessing to the people. We will see how it goes!

New Year, New Church

That is not the pattern I always follow, but it seems to be the case this year. 2010 should prove to be a monumental year for us if the Lord wills. We are starting a church in the small town of Barajas. If you are like me the thought of starting a church would scare you to death. I keep fearing that I will get in the way of what God wants to do in the town and I just don't want to. I really want this thing to work. We are working with a great couple from the Canary Islands who are just as excited as we are about the work but we simply hope to do His bidding.

In just two weeks we will be launching our first outreach throughout the town in hopes of spreading the word that we are here to stay and here to bring hope to the people. I can't wait to get started. Pray for us.
