I think I am probably the last one in the world to finally understand RSS (really simple syndication). I think part of my misunderstanding of the idea was why it was necessary. Well in today's "blog eat blog" world, it is very necessary. As a matter of fact, I have incorporated it right away into one of my daily activities.

With all the information that is flying here and there, I like to stay up to date on some of the latest things that are coming out. This can range from the latest theological news to the newest gadget that will make life even easier. I have begun to check multiple blogs over the last few months and the RSS reader now allows me to plug in the addresses of these blogs so that I receive the newest blog entries into my program as if they are emails.

The advantages that I have found is that I don't have to go looking for the news that I want to see, it comes right to me. Not only this but I am able to keep up on all my friends' blogs. I don't think all of the RSS feeds come into all the different reader programs, but the one that I am using is Mozilla Thunderbird. It sorts through my email as well as the feeds. So there you go for those of you who are bloggers and enjoy this sort of thing, try it out, give it some time and you might find it is a simple way to keep up with the world around you.
